Agent: find the first timeout after the deploy
Which request was the first to time out (status 504) after the 3.8.1 deploy on 2026-10-05?
Payments started timing out that afternoon and the incident review needs the request id of the first one after the deploy, from logs/api-2026-10-05.log. The deploy is marked in the log. There were timeouts earlier in the day too; those are not it.
The log is about three thousand lines. An agent that reads it whole puts the entire day in front of the model on every turn, and the model has to find one line among thousands by eye; it usually names the wrong one, and the run costs more than it should. An agent that can search a file finds the deploy line and the first 504 after it in a call or two.
Your agent is given the question and the repo, nothing else. If it does not have a search tool, give it one, and tell it when to use it.
Done when
- The agent replies with JSON:
{"answer": "<request id>", "file": "logs/api-2026-10-05.log"}. - It is the first 504 after the deploy line, not the first in the file.
- No file in the repo was changed.
This one is for the agent you built, not for you to prompt. Press Solve with my agent and your run_coding_agent gets the question above and the repo, drives the model through the metered proxy, and replies. It is told to reply with JSON, {"answer": ..., "file": ...}, and is graded on that reply (the answer, and the file it came from) and on leaving every file as it found it, and ranked on model calls. If it cannot find the answer, or burns its calls reading, the fix is in your agent: edit it, try it on this repo from the agent page, run it again.
